What the first hour gets right
The sheer amount on offer is striking. Warfare delivers huge battles with vehicles and clear operator roles, and it forgives beginners because you respawn. The Black Hawk Down campaign, a free add-on, is a strong co-op option for players who want a story and a friend rather than strangers.
Cross-progression is handled well: one Level Infinite account carries your progress and cosmetics across PC, consoles and mobile.
Where it asks a lot
Getting in is heavy. The PC download is one of the largest in our ten, there is a separate account to create, and the anti-cheat runs at kernel level. None of that is unusual for a modern shooter, but it adds up before the first match.
Operations, the extraction mode, is where many players end up, and it is harsh for newcomers: you can lose the gear you bring in. Give it time once Warfare feels comfortable.
Money: coins, bricks and draws
Delta Coins are the paid currency. On the UK Xbox store the smallest pack is 60 coins for 79p and the popular 750-coin pack is £7.79, which covers the deluxe season pass on recent seasons. PC and PlayStation prices may differ slightly.
The rest of the store is where care is needed. MandelBricks drop during play, but opening one needs a Quantum Key bought with coins, with the main item guaranteed within 75 openings. Appearance draws in the store start cheap and get more expensive with each draw. Both are cosmetic, and both are designed to keep you going. We'd set a firm monthly limit or stay on the free route.
Who should play it
Players who want big-team battles or a co-op campaign without paying for a game, and who are disciplined with shops. Parents should use platform spending limits: PEGI flags the random items, and the store is busy.
