About First Hour Review

The idea

We kept noticing the same gap. Reviews tell you whether a game is good after thirty hours, and store pages tell you it is free to play. Neither tells you what the first evening feels like, or what the game will cost a UK player who wants the pass, the edition with the expansion or the monthly membership.

First Hour Review fills that gap. Every game gets a minute-by-minute map of the first hour, a score built from four plain marks and a price list in pounds, with every source listed. Next to the reviews sit practical guides on paying for games in the UK and on setting spending limits.

Who it is for

New players deciding what to download tonight, returning players wondering what a pass really costs, and parents who want to know what a game will ask for before a child starts it. We are based in the UK, we price in pounds, and we write for people who pay in pounds.

We are not a shop, a publisher or a payment company. We don't sell anything on this site.

Our standards

• Every review lists the official sources behind its facts, timings and prices.
• Every price is checked on an official UK store, with the date shown.
• Corrections are made quickly and noted at the foot of the page when they change a fact or a score.
• We follow our own independence rules and the published method.
